The Distillery Gallery is pleased to host the premiere presentation of Georden West's Patron Saint, an otherworldly black-and-white film, featuring the looks of fashion designer, and current Project Runway contestant, Jamall Osterholm. The film will be shown within the context of a one-night installation, featuring thousands of carnations. Drinks provided by Bombay Sapphire.
The ecstasy of a saint brings her to the gates of heaven. In a celebration of the Divine Queer, Patron Saint reimagines religion and history as queer deities wearing Jamall Osterholm’s fashion line interact within a mystical landscape.
Georden West is a media artist whose work explores historic authenticity, ecstasy, and reimagines historical characters in the context of modernity. Her fashion work explores fashion as an inherently queer medium of gender expression.
Georden holds a BA and a Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies from Hollins University and was the recipient of the Annie Terrill Bushnell and the Nicole Kohn Film Awards along with being a Batten Scholar. Georden was an Emerson Fellow and received her MFA from Emerson College in December 2018.
Jamall Osterholm is a Rhode Island based menswear designer whose work primarily deals with his identity as a black man as well as issues surrounding black masculinity and gender. Since Graduating from the Rhode Island school of Design in 2017, Jamall debuted thesis collection at NYFW FW17 and his second collection at New England Styleweek FW18. His third collection premiered at NYFW SS19 in September.
